I finished my Block 2 of the Snapshots Quilt Along!
I am hanging these mini quilts with the corner triangles and using one side as the label.
The turtle was posted today for the Elephant Parade and I whipped him up in no time. Here is the link to the directions http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/2015/02/elephant-parade-week-4-turtle.html
I stitched together my frog yesterday and added the embroidery detail by machine this morning.
I hung up my two Snapshots blocks with a couple other mini quilts above my cutting table.
has just finished a make over of her sewing room. Her room is fantastic and has a big sectional for the family to hang out in. She is having a linking party and looking for more ideas for her sewing room.
I figured I would share this picture of an old computer armoire I use for storage in my sewing room. It holds a ton of UFOs and tools. I can close it up, but I hardly ever do. I use the armoire door next to the window to hang blocks on and take pictures with the natural light. My TV is also on top of the armoire, so it is out of the way and easily seen throughout the room.
My cutting table is on bed risers which is a much better height for cutting. Then, I have five three-drawer rolling carts stored underneath. Each drawer is filled with scraps sorted by color. All this space under the cutting table is great for a roll of batting and my sewing machine cases.
Sorry I forgot to include my sewing station! So this is an addition...

This is a small upholstered chair I swiped from my guest room. This is a good place for the family to hang out with me or where I sit and hand stitch. I keep my hand sewing basket and supplies right beside it. The lights also turn to give more illumination for handwork.
Speaking of slow stitching, I am marking the borders of my Journey of a Quilter Quilt for the final stage of hand quilting. I am going to work on this today with the Daytona 500 on and tonight while watching the Oscars. It has been awhile since I have actually been able to join the stitchers over at Kathy's for Slow Sunday Stitching http://kathysquilts.blogspot.com
It is finally snowing here, but the ground is so warm that not much is sticking. We desperately need some snow to avoid a bad drought this summer. Let it snow!!!
How did you get to the borders so quickly?!? I can see the leaves and flowers you are going to stitch. So close to a finish!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a pretty good size sewing room with lots of storage. I have one section of our family room/sunporch. ALso looks like you've been making some good sewing progress.
ReplyDeleteCute turtle! It is nice to see other's sewing areas. It is giving me some ideas as I hear my hubby sawing out a spot in the slat wall for the electrical outlet in my new space. I'll post a picture next week when I get all my shelves up and filled with all my stuff.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to see where other people sew - thanks for the tour. I love your mini quilts, especially the sewing machine.
ReplyDeletedidn't realize you all hadn't been getting snow and there so much of the country has been - love your Froggy!

Love the idea of corner hangers. I need to start doing that as I never get sleeves made. I have used corner labels as they are easy and to serve as hanger makes them even better. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your slow stitches today. I prefer cutting at a higher height also.
ReplyDeleteI love your Snapshots minis! I need to go over and get the sewing machine block especially. It definitely makes the perfect wallhanging for your sewing room. We have gotten about 8inches of snow over here this weekend, but unfortunately not enough for a snow day, which we were all hoping for last Friday!
ReplyDeleteI love the cozy chair in your room. Wish I had room for one in mine. Someday.
ReplyDeleteHello Tanya! Love all the projects you are working on but I particularly like the 'frog' block.... so cute! Your sewing room looks a lovely cosy place to stitch! :) xx
ReplyDeleteLove your snapshot quilts. Gorgeous! And who could resist that little turtle. Well done!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the peek at your sewing machine area! LOL!! Omg THAT is a lot of snow overnight!!! (So glad you had a snow day!!)
DeleteWonderful sewing space with plenty of room for friends to join you for a sewing party!
ReplyDeleteI adore that sewing machine wall hanging! It looks like you have the perfect sewing area for you! Every thing you could want!
ReplyDeleteThat frog is so life like he's ready to jump off the wall! Everything looks cozy in your sewing space.
ReplyDeleteLots of great ideas in your sewing room. It is amazing what can fit into tiny spaces. Lovely work with the snapshot blocks and good luck finishing the borders of your Journey quilt.
ReplyDeleteLoving the sewing machine minis. I really should get around to making one.
ReplyDeleteYour snapshots minis look so lovely hanging by your cutting table. Love that crosshatch quilting! It's nice to get a chance to have a peek into your sewing world, Tanya. Always interesting to see everyone's set up. Love your turtle and frog blocks. So glad you are quilting along!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you look so organized! I love your snapshot mini, and your turtle and frog are adorable. Is the fabric for the turtle's shell a little square print, or did you piece teeny tiny squares to get that look? Either way, it is the perfect fabric.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Building Blocks Tuesday.
Love that armoire! Cute mini quilt, too.
ReplyDeleteYour little sewing machine is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you've used on your frog and turtle. They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteGood ideas in your sewing room. Mine is too small for a chair, but it would be nice. All your projects are wonderful. I especially like your Journey of a Quilter. Thanks for linking to WIPs Be Gone. I enjoyed coming here and seeing all your eye candy!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sharing sewing spaces. I just redid mine and posted a couple photos. It feels good to see in a nice space. Thanks for sharing. Btw we have oodles of snow...maybe we could send some your way!
ReplyDeleteWe are also hoping for some rain and snow here in California. Your sewing machine mini is lovely, love the grid quilting on it. The turtle and the frog are just adorable! Happy stitching!

Those corner triangles are a wonderful idea for small quilts. It's even better that they can double as labels. Congratulations on the snow. We need some here, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric you used for the turtle! I am making the Elephant Parade quilt too. I like the sewing machine block / quilt too. So many quilts to make!
