Project ADHD

We woke up this morning to a very rainy day! With the rain came cool weather--cool enough to wear yoga pants and a long sleeved t-shirt and drink vanilla lattes all day. Since I didn't have to work, I started my day with laundry, so I could wash up my Modern Herringbone Baby Quilt. When the rain finally let up at 5pm, I ran outside to get this picture of it. After washing, it measures 43 x 50 inches.
The back is nearly as cute as the front. I made extra strips of herringbone to widen the backing. I quilted it on my Pfaff following one of the diagonals of the herringbone pattern.
The chilly, wet weather put me in the mood for some handwork. I started with this sheep embroidery-I only had a few flowers to finish up.
I think I will turn this into a pillow, but none of my stash fabric is beckoning me for it. It will have to wait...
Onto the next project, the final two blocks arrived from my sister for the Moda Sampler Block Shuffle. Here is Block 29
and Block 30. I did the appliqué on my Pfaff. They show all 30 blocks set on point and my sister sent me some coordinating fabric, but I am not sure about it--it may be too directional. I think I will see what I can find at my local fabric store soon. All the blocks are made with Bonnie and Camille's Hello Darling fabric.
I have been tempted by Cheri Payne's Friendship Group BOM on Facebook because it involves wool felt appliqué, but the last thing I need is another project when I have so many UFOs. Instead I have been restraining myself, I got out this old project instead for my wool felt fix.
My top is all pieced and all it needs are the borders appliquéd. I am using wool felt appliqué, so I got started on the vine.

I also prepped another embroidery UFO project because I am going to need lots of handwork to keep me busy watching the Olympics this weekend. I feel like I have some serious project ADHD going on!

  2. Very pretty quilt and I love the back too. I laugh at myself now because I would never mix fabrics for a back years ago. Now I love seeing extra blocks or all different pieces of fabric for the back. I guess my tastes have changed. I also liked your sheep. I embroider the same one all in blue but still have to make it into a pillow. It's fun to see someone else working on the same projects. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Quilter's ADHD is is a worldwide epidemic! There is no cure! Best thing to do is just go with it and have as many projects going at one time as you can! Man, your herringbone quilt is cute! I'm impressed how straight the pieced strip came out on the back. I can't quite get them straight! Love your embroidery and hope you soon find the fabric you need to finish your pillow. Good job pulling out an ongoing project instead of starting something new. You showed great restraint!

  9. I have quilting ADHD, too! But I think it keeps me going because I can choose to work on whatever I feel like at the time. I love how you qulted your herringbone quilt - that looks perfect for the pattern. Your Moda sampler looks like it will be so fun! I have a layer cake of Hello darling that is just waiting for the right inspiration. It is such pretty fabric!

  12. OH I ENVY you your weather !!!! :) You always have so much going on and it is fun to see, as well as to enjoy the family affair things with your mom and sister! :)

The embroidery project is so cute and I love seeing wool projects. Unless I were to gift one, while sorely tempted, I have not done any thus far because my cat would be all over it :( And she sheds like crazy.

  17. Funny, B has been finishing up that identical embroidery I started years ago. We came across it while straightening this weekend. I had the final flower stalk in the right side to complete. Told her we could make it into a pillow. Good to get another UFO taken care of. The herringbone quilt is darling. I think I will start my ugly sweater blocks this week. Hoping to put together a good sized wall hanging for our homeless shelter Ugly Sweater silent auction fundraiser.
