Elizabeth Hartman Projects

Hi! I mentioned in an earlier post that I have been helping out one of my local quilt shops with making samples for the shop and our town's upcoming quilt show. She had several of Elizabeth Hartman patterns in, but no samples. I offered to whip some up.  This is the Florence Flamingo small quilt with smaller borders and made from some pink Bali batik strips.  I just got back from picking up a backing, so I can quilt it up this evening. I am going to quilt it horizontally about every half inch. I think it will be fun and modern. The shop owner was thrilled with how the sample looked and immediately ordered some more patterns in.
This is Dwight the Deer with glasses. It is a 24 inch square pillow cover. Since we live in deer country this is sure to be a hit.
And last but certainly not least, Bjorn the Bear also with glasses and is a 20 inch square pillow cover. Wouldn't this be cute with a bunch of them for a baby quilt? There were several sizes included with the pattern.

I had never used an Elizabeth Hartman pattern before, but I am now a huge fan. Her directions were thorough, all in color, and very detailed. You can find her patterns here:

  2. I made Elizabeth's "The Cat" several years ago and it was really a lot of fun. There are several others I'd love to make but there is only so much time. Your samples are precious.

  3. I am a big fan of Elizabeth Hartman, too. I've done the Cats Quilt when she did it as a quilt along on her blog several years ago. And right now I'm doing Legendary. I like the touch of irony and humor she always has in her patterns. :)

  6. I love her patterns but haven't made one yet. I'm partial to the hedgehog and the dachsunds. Wish she had a pug!

  7. I just love your flamingos. They frequent my house in various ways, including as lawn ornaments, very pink.

  8. Daughter and I bought Elizabeth's woodland creatures pattern to make a quilt together for her son. I love them and yours are beautiful. As a retired teacher I haven't forgotten how precious summer vacation was!

  15. Ooh, fun project for a quilt shop! I'm sure people are more likely to buy the patterns when they have cool examples to inspire them.
