Happy March! I have been hesitant to set any quilting goals after my epic failure on my quilting goals for 2016, but I need to get some of my UFOs done. I am joining Elm Street Quilts for the One Monthly Goal (OMG) link up for March. I want to finish this top--machine quilting and binding. Here is the link:
I just got back from buying a grey minky for a backing fabric, so hopefully I will successfully meet this goal.
While I was in Denver, my Connecting Threads order arrived with some of these fabrics. I also picked up a couple of the oranges while in Denver. I am collecting oranges for two upcoming projects.
My order included all of these threads. I usually wait for one of Connecting Thread's annual sales, but I was completely out of white and the $2.74 full price is still a great deal.
I had a good time in Denver--I got a little shopping in, got my hair cut and colored, ate Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish, spent time in the hot tub, ate amazing sushi, and went dancing. This picture is from the sushi bar. My friend and college roommate, Lauren, is in the leopard print. I am in the coral and Melissa and Michelle are the sisters in white. It was very fun night!
Have a great week!
Have you used minkie as backing before? I read a blog post saying that they had trouble machine quilting using it as a backing.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love your quilt top.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt top! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteVery fun quilt top! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun! I love Essentials thread too.
ReplyDeleteLove your scrappy quilt top. What size is the finished block, or is there a tutorial somewhere you followed?
ReplyDeleteMinky on the back is going to be awesome! I've never tried Connection Threads thread, but I've heard good things. I may have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors in your quilt top, and the one lime green spool of thread makes me smile. My car (a VW Bug) is that color. :)
ReplyDeleteYou girls all look gorgeous and happy! :)
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me that I didn't set a March goal, ha ha!
I have never sewn with Minky though I've felt it in the fabric store...it should be wonderful and soft and hopefully no troubles to sew with!
Good luck with your goals. Great fun with purchases!! Looks like you had a great time away.
ReplyDeleteLove those fabrics from CT! Have fun! Good luck with your March goal! XO
ReplyDeleteI had such great success in January with my goals but failed miserably in February. I hope I'm on track for March.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time in Denver. Love your hair!
Gray minky is fabulous for that quilt's backing. :) I use it very often, and it is marvelous! I haven't had trouble quilting with it, other than that it is heavier to work with (I only have a domestic machine). True story: I'm about to shop for gray minky for the quilt I have to start quilting now!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. I've tried Connecting Threads' thread but it just causes to much lint in my Pfaff. Superior Threads does the best. I sure did like the ease of buying and the color choices from Connecting Threads.
ReplyDeleteGrey minky for the win! I just bought some to back a quilt, too. And I love CT thread so much that I upgraded to the huge cones in the last sale.
ReplyDeleteYour Denver weekend looks like fun! Did you know about the Scrappy Girls Club orange swap? I'm hoping to join today. =)

That top is so pretty, it'll be wonderful to see it all quilted up and cosy!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt top! I hope the quilting goes well. Keep plugging away on your goals, enjoy the process.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great stash of new thread!!!! That quilt is wonderful to look at. Grey minkee on the back sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt!! And you did a good job on the stash enhancement, that's a fun mail day for sure!
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy quilt.
