I am behind on my "Love Blooms Here" BOM blocks. I spent time yesterday and this morning prepping the next blocks.
I will stitch these blocks in place starting today as part of Slow Sunday Stitching.
Two bluebirds will go on the fence posts
and the sheep will get a face, ears, and a heart added.
I will also continue block 2 from my "Journey of a Quilter" BOM and maybe piece block 3.
I posted this egg carton with all the perle cotton I am using for my "Journey of a Quilter" BOM embroidery. I cannot take credit for the egg carton perle cotton storage. I saw it sometime last summer on someone else's blog, but unfortunately I can't remember whose it was to give them proper credit. It works great because it keeps the perle cotton balls from becoming a tangled mess and it is very portable. You can use an 18 egg carton, a dozen carton, or a 6 egg carton depending on your project requirements. I can even fit extra needles and small scissors inside.
Marge just left me a comment that the egg carton idea is on this blog http://threesheepstudio.blogspot.com Thank you so much!

Well my mom and dad are out of town, so we will celebrate Father's Day when they are back in August. My hubby wants to watch the World Cup and grill some steaks. The sun is shining, so it looks to be a lovely day even if some of it will be in front of the big screen watching soccer...
Be sure to check out other handwork over at http://www.kathysquilts.blogspot.ca/ for Slow Sunday Stitching.
You have a lot of hand stitching prepped to enjoy while watching soccer... sounds like the perfect day!
ReplyDeleteI love all your perle cotton in the egg carton, lovely eye candy. Enjoy your slow stitching as you watch soccer. My grandson Chase is a great soccer player hopefully he can play in college too. Watched a bit of the Columbia game.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the egg carton as storage idea ... thank you for sharing it (even if it wasn't original, it's the first time I've seen it.)
ReplyDeletePretty projects and a pretty great storage solution! :)

ReplyDeleteA quilt with a sheep has to be good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great storage idea for the perle cotton! Mine is in a little zipped bag, which is OK I guess, but not brilliant. What I do need though is an idea for carrying spools of thread. I have a dilly bag which has all my necessary supplies which I carry around with me when I go sewing. During the course of time, the threads all unravel and create a mess in the bag. Spent time yesterday extricating them. Spools used to have thread keeper nicks in them years ago, but they've stopped making them since machines started using the lie down thread system.
ReplyDeleteThat egg carton is a great idea. My perle cotton spools are all in a bag tangled up!
ReplyDeleteLook at all that great hand work! Love the organized perle cotton.:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome handworking. I love the sheep!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the blocks all embroidered. I'm very lucky in that the World Cup matches are in teh middle of the night for us, so I don't have to watch!
ReplyDeleteooo - I adore "Love Blooms Here" :) And it may not have been your idea, but thanks for sharing that fantastic egg carton storage use - never would have thought of it! So simple, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea w/the egg carton!! lovely hand work too!
ReplyDeleteI love your "Slow Stitching Sunday!" I need to do more of that!
ReplyDeleteThe egg carton is a great idea for storing perle thread! I just have mine in a drawer in my sewing room and they come unraveled all the time, making a big mess. Your BOMs are coming along nicely. Do you do a lot of BOMs? I can never keep up!
