Merry Christmas! We woke up to about 5 inches of snow with more falling--it finally stopped with about 8 inches total. I decided to get a picture of my Scrappy Snowmen Quilt on the blanket of snow in our front yard. It measures 28 inches square after washing. I quilted it vertically with my large wavy stitch on my Pfaff.
I made it completely from my stash! That means it is a freebie.
I made an extra block for my label and embroidered the details on it. Speaking of details, it needs some buttons on each snowman, so I will work on that this afternoon.
My hubby put the chains on his riding mower/snow plow and is out plowing our driveway. We have a large circular driveway and side driveway that total up to about the size of 4 tennis courts, so it takes him a couple of hours to plow it. A county plow came up and plowed our cul-de-sac already this morning--that is only the third time they have done it in 10 years. The snow is supposed to stick around and at night we will be in the single digits. I am thrilled to stay in and do some sewing.
We celebrated early this morning with Christmas gifts and breakfast. I got a few quilting goodies, new Ugg boots, some sage Fiestaware, an immersion hand blender, and some other luxury goodies--scarves, a knit cap, Reese's peanut butter cups, nail polish, bath bombs, pj pants, etc. We are having cheese fondue for dinner which takes 10 minutes to throw together. I planned it that way, so I can get some sewing done and enjoy the White Christmas outside of my windows instead of slaving in the kitchen all day. Have a Merry Christmas!
I'm jealous of your snow! We've had lots of rain in wisconsin, but the temps have been too warm to make snow. The snowman quilt is so incredibly adorable! I might need to add this to my wish list. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteThe snowman quilt is the best!! I love it, and sewing from your stash is great work!!
ReplyDeleteWe've had about 2 feet over the last week. Snow is piled high everywhere from shoveling the driveway and walks. Last I looked we've got a week of sunny and cold. I'm not complaining as my back can use a shoveling break.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to put together a few cottage blocks from my new calendar this weekend, just as soon asi cast on and complete a few rows on a knitted watchcap and build the Millenium Falcon. Merry Christmas!
Adorable quilt! Your Scrappy Snowmen are so cute and fun. I love quilts msde with a stash!! Thanks for the IG link, too.

ReplyDeleteYour quilt is wonderful! And it looks amazing with the snow as a back drop.
ReplyDeleteOur day saw high temps and hot winds. A huge contrast to your day.
Your snowman quilt finish is adorable, and the snow is the perfect setting for a picture of it! We keep having snow on top of snow here, and it is so-o-o cold! I am ready for a little warmer temperatures!
ReplyDeleteI adore these little snowmen. Thanks for sharing them with Oh Scrap! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is so adorable! And it looks great in the snow.
ReplyDeleteLove your snowmen! I'm still in AZ. We are "snowed out". 20 inches with 80 mph wind is so unheard of where we live. I'm actually kind of bummed I missed the storm! I'm ready to be home sewing again :)
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt's currently warm up here in Alaska, 38 degrees above zero at my house, and I'm listening to the water drip drip drip off the house...
Adorable Tanya!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Your scrappy snowmen quilt is so cute! And who doesn't love a "freebie"? We have not had any snow - which is not unusual for us but we have had rain, rain and more rain. But rainy days make good sewing days, too ;)
ReplyDeleteYour snowman are supersweet!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you are going to make quilty snowmen, Nature will give you enough snow to make real snowmen. I know what I need to do. Now, where is the pattern for that snowman block? http://sewpreetiquilts.blogspot.com/
