Hi, I'm Tanya, a wife, a mom, a teacher, and a quilter in Colorado. This is my second year participating in the Grow Your Blog event. Here is the link to the event http://vicki-2bagsfull.blogspot.com/2015/01/welcome-to-2015-grow-your-blog-party.html
I have been blogging for a year and a half and quilting for 20 years! I took my first quilting class in January 1995 and I became completely addicted. I started blogging because I live in a small town where most of the quilting is traditional. I make plenty of traditional quilts, but I needed modern inspiration which led me to the quilt blogging world. The Rainbow Orange Peel Baby Quilt I made last summer based on some amazing quilts I saw on blogs. I love it so much, I am thinking of making a queen size one for our bed. In 20 years of quilting, I have never made a quilt for my own bed!

Since I have quilted for two decades, I have an enormous stash and I love to make things from my scrap bins and stash. This is my Country Little Letters- a stash quilt- which was a part of a quilt along with Temecula Quilt Company.
This is my Variegated Violets Baby Quilt I made for my neighbor. This was also a stash quilt. I followed a tutorial I found on-line and quilted it myself on my Pfaff.
In 2014, I made this Love Blooms Here Wool Felt Quilt featured in Quiltmaker. I enjoy the feel of wool felt and like the primitive hand stitching. It is pinned and ready for hand quilting with perle cotton while I am parked in front of my TV. The only thing I bought to make this quilt was a magazine subscription to Quiltmaker and two small pieces of yellow wool--my stash is large!
Handwork is therapeutic for me, it makes me slow down and relax while creating something with my hands. I like to incorporate embroidery into my quilts. This is a close up of some embroidery in my Journey of a Quilter BOM I have been working on.
I am in the process of hand quilting it and only have the outer border left! Hopefully, it will be hanging in my sewing room in a couple of weeks. Every Sunday, I participate in Slow Sunday Stitching over at http://kathysquilts.blogspot.com for inspiration.
Over the years, I have acquired lots of UFOs and have experimented with many quilting techniques. While digging through some of my stash, I discovered this paper piecing kit. The design is a gardener's potting bench and makes a mini quilt. I know I will never make it because I really dislike paper piecing!
So, how about I give it away! Here are the fabrics included in the kit. To enter, please leave me comment telling me your favorite dog breed (I am a dog lover). I will randomly choose a winner on February 15. Good luck and please visit again!
I am having issues with my follow me with Bloglovin' link and have removed it temporarily, but I hope to get it back up and running soon....

My favorite dog breed is the pug (obviously). You don't need to give me the prize, I don't like paper piecing either!
ReplyDeletePugs and kisses,
Nancy from PugMom Quilts!
Love your projects. Journey of a Quilter BOM is very lovely. I love embroidery and paper piecing. :D. I'm more of a cat person than a dog person but I do love Great Danes. They're so regal.
ReplyDeleteWell I love German Shepherds (grew up with parents breeding them) and love Lab's we have had 2 while our children have been growing up so both breeds to be honest
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing what you are working on. Please do not enter me in the draw as I probably would not make it either.
ReplyDeleteLabs are great. I love seeing your stash quilts. Shopping is fun but it's also fun to make what you have work. www.quiltartbymegan.com
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your GYB post. Your love of sewing and quilting shines through!! I'm so glad we met and have become blogging friends! I'm going to have check out that magazine QUilt Maker...you find lots of good stuff in it! I'm always inspired by your work! Enjoy the hop! V:)
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the Grow Your Blog party...next year I need to put a button on my sidebar so that I remember!
ReplyDeleteYou always have so many lovely projects going on and I guess my favorite dogs are mutts since I have two of them, ha ha.
I love the quilt show, you have some real beauties there. My favorite breed is the miniature schnauzer. They are highly intelligent, don't shed and very loyal to their masters.
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect project to make in the spring!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing all your wonderful quilts, but mostly the Journey quilt :)
We are a Shih Tzu family here and loving it!
Hello Tanya! I have found your blog through the Grow Your Blog party and your very kind comment on my blog! I love your quilts and I especially love the Leanne Beasley quilt you are hand stitching! I have two bichon havanese dogs and they have to be my favourite breed, they are fabulous little dogs!! Thank you for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya. I am having fun visiting blogs through Vicki's blog party. Lovely quilts. How do you like your Tfal iron? I had a rowenta that died and will not be buying another. I am now following you.
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, I would have a hard time picking a favorite breed since I have three dogs and they are all different breeds. I have a yorkie, shih tzu and lab mix. But I will say that if I got another I would go for another yorkie (no sheding and really loveable). Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI took my first quilting class around 1995 too. Only I had a very long dry spell and still need to quilt that first project. Thanks for visiting my blog on the GYB party. It was great reading about you and your giant stash. I may just be a little jealous about that. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya! How wonderful that you live in Colorado....so do I :) I am visiting from the Grow Your Blog event and want to warmly welcome you on behalf of Vicki. I hope you have a great time meeting new people.
ReplyDeleteMay I just say your blog is lovely and your quilting, oh my! It's gorgeous! You are a very talented lady.
Hugs to you! Have a great Sunday!
Hello fellow GYB-er! I love the freshness of your work - especially the scrappy one with hand embroidered accents.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dog breed is "rescued." That's the only kind we'll consider!
I would love to be entered into your give away. Thank you!
Hi Tanya! I love this Blog meet & greet; I would never have found your blog otherwise! My favorite dog would have to be any that has been rescued or adopted thru a pound. We currently have 5 rescues! Blessings:)
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased to meet you Tanya at the GYB party. I love your orange peel quilt; I like the rainbow effect across the blocks.Your embroidery looks wonderfully precise. I agree hand sewing is therapeutic, but it can even be addictive! Enjoy the party.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your Journey finish! Your's and Kathy's (Kathy's Quilts) are both so different. You have a lot of gorgeous finishes. I'm not a paper piecer either!
ReplyDeleteHello Tanya, happy to meet you through the GYB party. I'll tell you about my dogs but I I'd rather not be included in your very nice give away (I hate paper piecing too). My current pups are: a gorgeous German Shepherd named River and a rescue Labrador X Border Collie named Shadow. They are my constant companions and clowns. I really don't have a favorite breed as I love every dog I've ever had and most have been pretty mixed up or Heinz 57 as they say. Thanks for following me @ Dogwood Lane Rambles, Patrica
ReplyDeleteReturning your visit through Grow your Blog. I have a black and white Boston Terrier, named Gibby. He is such a joy and completes our family. Love your quilts and following now
ReplyDeleteHallo Tanya,
In theory I love Scottie dogs, and have ever since I was 6 and was given a t-shirt (which I still have) with one on. In real life though I'm terrified of almost all dogs, unless they are old ones who won't ever jump up or bark at me!
ReplyDeletejen dot barnard at btinternet dot com
great quilts! I am a quilter from Ga. visiting from Vicki's blog and already follow you
ReplyDeleteWow I love paper piecing! Loved reading your story. Thanks
ReplyDeleteOMG! I love your quilts!! The fabrics, colours, patterns... Beautiful pieces!! My favorite dog breed is the Sheltie and you will see a photo of my dog Buddy on my quilt (profile photo).
ReplyDeleteI love paper piecing. I'd be happy to take the kit off your hands :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of paper piecing. 😁
ReplyDeleteI love many different breeds of dogs. They are all from the sporting group. Spaniels (English Springer, Welsh Springer, Clumber, All kinds of setters, etc, etc)
Hi Tanya. I'm not really a dog fan, but if I had to pick one I guess I'd say Sharpei. They use one to advertise toilet paper here and he always looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteThere are as many breeds of quilters as there is dogs!!! But my all time favorite is golden retreivers. We have a 13 year old one and a 6 month old one! I just couldn't see life without a dog in it!
ReplyDeleteLove your style of quilting...there is lots to be learned by moving around in blog land!!!
I really like how you add embroidery to your quilts. It makes them feel so much more personal! And I've never made a quilt for my bed either. :) We've had four German Shepherds - they are most definitely our favorite breed - but most dogs are so cute to me! Thanks for linking up to MCM!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dog breed are the full size Poodles! We've never had one, but still love them. Our current dog is part Bullmastiff part Boxer. He is a huge dog, but is so sweet and gently to all! Love to follow your blog and see what you are working on.
ReplyDeleteLove your embroidery touches!! I confine my handstitching to EPP. I'm a Labrador lover three times over!!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya's! Love your blog! Your quilts and stitching are all wonderful! Thank you for the giveaway kit, I think it is really cute! We have a rescued jack Russell and fox terrier cross! Small dog with long legs! He loves us dearly and has us trained to a T! Take care, Leslie
ReplyDeleteI am a Doxie Lover above all, but also partial to Aussies. Your embroidery work within your quilts is really sweet. I could see a little girl (or a bigger one, too!) just loving it!
ReplyDeleteJulie @ Pink Doxies
I LOVE LOVE LOVE paper piecing!
ReplyDeleteI have had many dogs over the years. The only purebread dogs we had were dachshunds and they can be great, but they are SO stubborn and difficult to housebreak. The best dogs I have had were mutts. My sweet darling little boy who passed awhile back was a shar-pei, lab, pit mix. He was the best dog a person could ever hope for and I miss him dearly
My favourite dog breed is "rescue" - saved from a shelter! Your embroidery and hand stitchery is charming.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dog breed is a Yorkie. I have a 4 year old "little" girl and is the sweetest.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts and work are lovely, Just as was my favorite dog, an English Springer Spaniel.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to meet you. Your quilts are beautiful. I like poodles.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite breed of dog is the beagle. We had our beagle when the kids were growing up and he was a wonderful friend to us all. I love the coloring on this breed too.
ReplyDeleteYou do gorgeous work! I am a sucker for cocker spaniels. :)
ReplyDeleteWell I have to say that my favourites are my own two most-adorable chocolate Labradors! ;-) I am in awe of your hand stitching, it's just beautiful - hope you're enjoying the GYB party and thanks for popping in at my blog too.

I grew up with labs and still have a soft spot for them, but I fell in love with the whippet breed (think smaller greyhound), and when one needed rescuing in Fort Worth, I drove 4 hours, took one look at him, and fell in love for nearly 6 years. When the whippet slowed down, I rescued a lab mix (she has the lean body and long legs of a whippet, but the hair and tail of a lab and the heart of a terrier) from the local shelter. Looking for another whippet to rescue, but they are great dogs and fortunately very few need rescuing! I'd love to get more into paper piecing, and am visiting from Quilt Story's Fabric Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteYou throw a great party. Thank you for inviting me!
ReplyDeleteSo that you know, I've become a Follower and when time permits, I'll be back to see what other beautiful things were made by your hands!
What this party is all about is to GROW your blog and I'm hoping to do the same. When you get to Section One, check out A Country Chic Retreat and SuZeQ Creations, my personal blog, in Section Fifteen I'd love for you to follow and subscribe to.
Happy crafting!

Here via the GYB party. What beautiful quilts you make, really lovely. My favourite dog breed has to be the cocker spaniels as I grew up with one but love all animals.
ReplyDeleteMutts are always the best!
ReplyDeleteLove your bright colors!

Visiting from GYB... frankly, I dont have a favorite as I dont' have any pets. At my age, I just don't want to deal with that! But... my 14 year old grand daughter has a black lab and they bought her when I was with them and tossing around names and I said Ryder and they loved it and the dog is really sweet and calm and everything, so I'll say labs are my fav! I love your BLOOM quilt tho!

ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, what a great photo of you and a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to meet you, Tanya. I love orange peel quilts, too, and I have yet to make a quilt for my own bed even though I've been quilting for 17 years. My favorite dog breed is Brittany Spaniel. We're on our third one and its a good thing he's so cute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts! I love seeing what you do! My favorite dog...Pitbull! They get such a bad wrap, but mine is a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute favorite dog breed is greyhound. I have had 2, one a rescue, one not. They were both awesome, lovable companions. Your quilts are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are fabulous - especially the Orange Peel
I love labradors! we have two black labs!

ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, visiting from GYB. Some lovely projects, I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dog is an Australian Shepherd. I've been following you for a while on Bloglovin', Tanya. It does seem to have some kind of issue right now. Thanks for posting to WIPs Be Gone. This Friday's is now open. Show off all your progress by linking this post. Love lots of things you've shared - especially your Journey of a Quilter.
ReplyDelete'Tis a delight to meet you, Tanya and have a look at your lovely blog. Your quilts are gorgeous but I particularly love your Journey of a Quilter quilt; the fabrics and your embroidery are lovely. I have a Springer Spaniel and I must say she certainly springs through life. It will be a treat to follow and see what you are up to.
ReplyDeleteI'm a textile artist visiting via GYB from St. John's, NL Canada. Lovely quilts. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh wow - my jaw hurts now from falling open in awe over that first quilt. I love it! Thank you so much for having us over and showing us your beautiful colourful quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts! We share the same name so I had to stay for a while and visit! Visiting from Grow Your Blog party and so glad i found you! Beautiful work. You have a new follower!
ReplyDelete~Tanya
You are extremely busy! This is amazing! I commend anyone who hand quilts! These are all so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou make lovely quilts. The orange peel is a stunner. I don't have a dog, I have 4 kids instead. But I sure do like dachshunds
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya, I've been a follower of your blog for a while now, nice to see you on this hop. Visiting from GYB.
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to say, my favorite dog breed is terrier of any type. We have had rescue Welsh Terriers for many years.
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya! Have visited you a few times through linky parties, and here I am once again! You and I have a lot in common, rather scary, but you know what they say about birds of a feather...I quit teaching 2.5 years ago, and I will actually collect my pension (egad) at the end of May. Large stash, quilting since '95, modern quilting and quilt blogland, I hear you sista! Give the pp to someone else; I have a couple (that and appliqué) projects sitting in my sewing room, bahaha. Love your rainbow orange peel quilt, mmm!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dog is the black lab. I had one when I was a young teenager and he was the best dog I ever had (Terry).
ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about embroidery and am pleased to see you use it in your work!
afistfuloflemons @ gmail.
My fav dog is a wirehaired pointting griffon....the most relaxed dog ever!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I am not much of a dog person since I am deathly allergic to them (yes, even poodles). But if I ever get cured of my allergies, my choice would be a Sharpe. I think that they are completely adorable!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'd love to try making that... My favorite dog breed is/was our German Shepherd Collies! So pretty! Great blog! It's my first time here... nice to "meet" you and so many other amazing crafters. God bless!
