Lately, I have been doing secret sewing and I can finally reveal one of the gifts. I made these three nesting baskets for my mother-in-law for her birthday. I embroidered the front panels with perle cotton and used some Bonnie and Camille Scrumptious fabric for the outside and a green and white stripe from the Marmalade line for the inside. I used this free tutorial for the patterns http://birchfabrics.blogspot.com/2013/08/tutorial-fabric-bins-featuring-fort.html
I made all three sizes. I nested them inside one another and filled with goodies-chocolate, lotion, shower gel, lip balm, socks, mints, and a Kindle pouch. She liked the gift, but wants ideas of how to use the baskets. So blog world I would appreciate any ideas I can share for what to use the baskets for. I was thinking bathroom/closet/jewelry organization...What are your ideas?
hopping over from Finished Friday from Richard and Tanya's quilts. lovely work, stop by my blog for giveaway.. How sweet, I want to make some more for my new grandbabies coming. I love your stitching
ReplyDeleteI have made some bins like this and I use one to hold odds and ends on my nightstand, and another to hold the remote, a small notebook and pens. I also made some for my sister and she uses them to hold pill bottles and such.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute!! I love the fabric you chose too. What a fun present.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! A D O R A B L E!!!
DeleteI like to have a few clean washcloths in the bathroom in something like that.
ReplyDeleteI would separate socks, undies, and bras! Great for the closet or on top of dresser.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift for your MIL. I have a few in my sewing room... they hold odds and ends that I like to have close by. Living in a two story home, I keep the largest basket on one of the stairs. Seems like there is always something that gets put in the basket because it belongs upstairs!
ReplyDeleteThese are darling! I love the fabrics you chose. I'd use them to hold all of my hair accessories like clips, barrettes, ponytail holders, and combs. Lots of uses in the linen closet - to keep all of my first aid stuff together, or various soaps (I purchase mine from markets), for monthly products, etc.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute baskets! Lovely idea for gifts! So many uses, love this!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week!

ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for Scrumptious. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs for uses--whatever hobby she has, there's bound to be some need for holding bins!
I am thinking ...bathroom...maybe put some hand towels in there. I would like one next to my sewing machine for the cut offs etc:). Thanks for visiting the Linky party
ReplyDeletelove those baskets.
ReplyDeleteLove the embroidery on the front! I would use one for several spools of thread on my side table. I am always hand sewing in the evening in my easy chair, and like to keep a few supplies handy!
